This poem was inspired by ideas from Rita K. on Nurturing Literacy, “Technology Bridges the Gap.”

Joy! A brilliant, yellow ray of sunlight piercing through darkened sky sparkling, sparking, sparking bursting through cloudy covers A sunshine bath drenching warmth, swirling laughter encircling, encircling, encircling with unseen arms A spoonful of sherbert melting, melting, melting exploding with smooth sweetness yumminess on my tongue An eternal spring bubbling, bubbling, bubbling upward from the ground mysterious, unseen source A twirling, twirling, twirling around and around barefoot in cool green grass head thrown back arms stretched wide Joy!

THis is lovely. I too see the sun today and after yesterday’s deluge, it is a welcome warm gift of brightness.

I loved how dynamic your poem was–I felt like I was adrift in joyful actions and senses. What form is the poem?

I am sharing the link from Nurturing Literacy, https://helpurchildread.com/2020/04/07/technology-bridges-the-gap/comment-page-1/#comment-365, that shares this poetry form. I think it was an idea to use in a classroom, but I loved it so much I gave it a try. Let me know if you write a poem in this form. I’d love to read it! Thanks for the comment.

How I’m longing for summer…and even spring! Here is Wisconsin, we have snow on the ground again today! Hey, but the sun is shining! Simple pleasures. Thanks for the comment.

Snow? Oh, brrr. Actually, as I write this it’s only 33 degrees on a cold April morning in north Alabama. That said, once this cold spell passes, I think we’re solidly into spring!

What a powerful way to put a smile on someone’s face! I so loved your exclamation at the beginning and your repetition within each stanza of each item that brings you joy. Your sensory language left me feeling happy and excited to get outside and experience some joy for myself!

I enjoyed the repetition in each stanza–the words you chose to repeat are such joyful words. The whole poem really does convey a feeling of joy.

I’m glad the emotion of joy was conveyed. Sometimes, I think it is there, but I’m not sure if other readers feel it. Thanks for the comment.
